We are getting down to the wire for Christmas. I don’t go too crazy on decorating the house, but I do love to go see decorations. Christmas lights are just a glorious site that I can’t get enough of. Toss some hot chocolate my way and I might never leave. It ended up raining all day Saturday, so I said screw it, bedtime can be pushed back once in a while, and we went out Sunday night.
We drove out to Fredericksburg, then made a big circle and came home through Johnson City. (Side note, this is a 3 hour drive round trip. I just mapped it.) Both towns are cute and had lights set up. Johnson City just blew me away though. Coming in from the west on 290, you can see the lights long before you get to them. The Pedernales Electric Company puts the lights on, which makes a lot of sense. The courthouse and surrounding square, which is only a few blocks away, is also lit up and decorated.
A living nativity is set up on the weekends and homemade ornaments are sold at the courthouse. Hay rides and horse and carriage rides are available. For being a Sunday night, there was quite a few people and kids there. Everything was free. We did the hayride, which was donations only. If you are in the area, I highly recommend going. They do have it every year if you miss it this year.
