CK Mondavi was started in the Napa Valley by Cesare and Rosa Mondavi in 1943. They, along with sons, wanted to keep the winemaking of their Italian heritage alive, while producing high quality wines. 70 years later, the family business is still going strong. The third generation of Mondavi’s are carrying on the tradition of excellent wines, while the fourth generation is stepping in to help. The company is run by the legendary Napa Valley wine icon, Peter Mondavi, Sr., a World War II veteran.
CK Mondavi is an American company producing American made products. That’s something a lot of companies can’t say anymore. On top of that, they support the military and veterans by supporting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. From May through August, a percentage of each bottle of wine sold will be donated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, up to $50,000. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Begun in 2000 and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided close to $150 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.
With the way most companies are these days, it’s something special when a family run business is continuously successful after so many years. Producing an American made product and supporting those who help keep America free, really says it all about CK Mondavi. Their wine is sold nationally, in every state and is the only American made wine that is in the only supermarket wine in the $10 and under category.
Please comment below to share your own story about supporting veterans and/or American-made products. I will select ONE reader to be entered into CK Mondavi’s grand prize drawing by May 15. The grand prize is a $500 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in the winner’s name!
